This further supports my hypothesis that NI has accidentally linked to the wrong file. KONTAKT is the industry-standard sampler from Native Instruments. I am not installing the Player. I have never had the Player installed on this machine. This might make it suitable for inclusion in the MuseScore base install. NI Support says: This means the full version of KONTAKT is already installed on your computer and that there is no need to install the free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER version. I think NI is sending me the wrong update file. Note the discrepancy in the version numbers. You can update your existing Kontakt 5 full installation by running the latest Kontakt 5 update installer! Service Center identifies the file as "Kontakt 5.6.1 Update - Win", but the actual filename within the zip file is "Kontakt 5.5.6.1 Setup PC.exe". The latest version of Kontakt 5 can load all Kontakt Player libraries. Installation is not possible since the full version of Kontakt 5 is found on this computer. I tried to install Native-installer.exe with WINE. However, when I run the setup manually, it fails with more - albeit equally unhelpful - information: - With the Kontakt 5 Player from Native Instruments it is possible in Windows and Mac.
